I had two classes of seniors in today and I’m so glad that I did. Students who haven’t had a librarian in a year really forget things, like what a call number is! I remembered how Debbie used to describe call numbers to students: a call number is the address of the book. I think that really explains it well. So those classes today had to find books and then find articles in the databases. The first class had some troubles, but that is because I gave them all of the instructions in the beginning. The second class did a lot better, since I divided it up in steps: 1) find a book, 2) come back, 3) find an article.
Tomorrow is Friday! The same students are coming back so I can show them how to cite the books and articles they found. Then, I get to spend a really relaxing weekend and doing my self-assessment for work.
